ジャズ (Jazz) という音楽を聴き始めた頃、へぇ、こんなのがあるんだと吃驚した。
当時のぼくでさえも聴いた事がある、そんな人物達の名前がそこに連なっている。
すこしづつ、その音楽に親みだし、彼等名義の作品等に触れるにつけ、この作品が眼に飛び込んでくる。
その度に、当時感じた吃驚と謂う感覚が揺らいでくる。そして思う。大丈夫なんだろうか、と。
なんだか、そこに溜まっているのはみずとあぶら (As Incompatible As Oil And Water) の様な気がしないでもないからだ。

Neko Mugen, the feline
Neko Mugen aka Madame Neko is the one of the characters created by Yosuke Takahashi.
Her first appearance was on the comic "In The Afternoon Of Professor Liar" for the monthly magazine "Manga Shonen" 1980 published by Asahi Sonorama.
Afterwards, she appeared on the comic "Mugen Shinshi Boken-katsugeki-hen : The Swashbuckler Of Mugen, The Gentleman" 1983 - 1991 for the monthly magazine ""Ryu" published by Tokuma Shoten Publishing Co., Ltd..
In 1987, the comic book "Mrs. Neko : The Anthologies Of Yosuke Takahashi Vol. 6" published by Asahi Sonorama" published by Asahi Sonorama collecting her short story "Mrs. Neko" 1985 for the monthly magazine "Monthly Comi-comi" publishid by Hakusensha, Incorporated.

Firstly, the short story "Aisetsu-hiwa Shōjo Tsubaki : The Camellia Girl, the poignant anecdote" was published on the monthly magazine "Manga Piranha" 1981 by Tatsumi Publishing Co., Ltd. 購入した理由は、はっきりしている。
戸川純 (Jun Togawa) が表題曲に参加しているからだ。作品自体には彼女の名前は一切ないが作品発表時、彼女の参加はどこでも謳われていた。
しかし、そうでなくとも、聴けば彼女の声だとすぐに解る。
解るが実際に彼女が登場するのはごく僅かなのである。

かつて発表した自作曲を、その歌詞並びに旋律に重きを置いて、再構築した作品。
だからこその作品名。
それ故に、収録楽曲の自身を除く4名の歌唱者名 [ロバート・ワイアット (Robert Wyatt)、サンジュ (S'Ange)、カロリーヌ・ローブ (Caroline Loeb)、クリストファー・ブレグヴァド (Kristoffer Blegvad)] をおおきく表示してある。
勿論、ジョン・グリーヴス (John Greaves) 自身も歌唱する。
また、本作の主人公ジョン・グリーヴス (John Greaves) には、ピーター・ブレグヴァド (Peter Blegvad) との共同名義の作品も多く、結果的に、本作収録楽曲には彼が作詞を手掛けた楽曲が多くなる。さながら、彼のソング・ブック (Song Book) と謂う趣きも濃厚だ [しかしながら、ピーター・ブレグヴァド (Peter Blegvad) 自身は、本作未参加である]。

"CHEAP TRICK" by CHEAP TRICK
君達にはトム・ワーマン (Tom Werman) よりもジャック・ダグラス (Jack Douglas) の方が適しているのではないか。
渋谷陽一 (Yoichi Shibuya) は、そのバンドの中心人物、リック・ニールセン (Rick Nielsen) にそんな疑問を投じた。
それを聴いたぼくも彼に賛同したのと同時に今、それを尋ねるかねとも、おもったのだ。
そして、ふたつあるぼくの一方の考え、つまり後者の方を裏付けるかの様に、リック・ニールセン (Rick Nielsen) は渋谷陽一 (Yoichi Shibuya) の疑問を一蹴したのであった。
トム・ワーマン (Tom Werman) の方が適している、次作も彼に委ねるつもりだ、と。
